Vampire FaceLift FAQs

What is a Vampire FaceLift?

The Vampire FaceLift is a nonsurgical, skin-repairing and contouring procedure that combines the rejuvenating power of dermal fillers and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Cosmetic fillers are highly effective at replenishing the depleted hyaluronic acid in the skin to restore volume loss. PRP is a strong skin repairing factor that’s found in our own blood to heal the skin and increase collagen and elastin production.

How does the Vampire FaceLift work?

During the procedure, cosmetic filler is injected at strategic points along the face for contour and correction. Then PRP that's been extracted from your own blood is injected back into the skin. A true synergy occurs when a cosmetic filler is combined with PRP. Wrinkles, discoloration or age spots fade or disappear.  Even skintone and texture are restored. Skin is more vibrant, radiant and youthful.

Vampire FaceLift vs. Vampire Facial:  What’s the difference?

Both treatments take advantage of the healing power of PRP to rejuvenate the skin and improve the cosmetic appearance of your face.

The Vampire Facial includes a process called microneedling which creates thousands of tiny channels in your skin to allow your growth factors to reach a deeper layer of your skin where cell growth occurs. This procedure is used to create a smoother texture of the skin, reduce pore size and reduce any scarring that is present but does not affect volume of the face. Although your blood is drawn, there are no injections with the Vampire Facial. This treatment is ideal for overall skin rejuvenation, including improvement to scarring, fine lines and brown spots. This option is more superficial than the Vampire FaceLift.

The Vampire FaceLift combines your own growth factors with commonly used hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane products. First, one syringe of dermal filler is injected into your face to provide a scaffolding for the growth factors and to improve volume. Then your PRP with growth factors are injected at the sites of the filler to help enhance the volume and tone of your face. Additional syringes of filler can be purchased depending on your personal goals. This treatment is ideal for patients hoping to improve volume loss and add youthful height and curves to their cheeks. The filler adds lift and volume and the PRP helps build collagen scaffolding over time to support new volume.

What are PRP injections used for?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments have been used to treat everything from arthritis to nerve injuries to tendonitis. Introduced into the world in 1970, PRP became regularly used in medical treatments in the late 1980s. PRP in sports medicine as well as the world of orthopedics is common. Many professional athletes have been fans of this injury-healing treatment including Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods and Maria Sharapova.

When was PRP therapy first used for skin rejuvenation?  When was the Vampire FaceLift created?

In 2011, Dr. Charles Runels, MD, registered and trademarked the Vampire Facial procedure, introducing PRP to the world of cosmetics. When platelet-rich plasma is microneedled into the face (i.e., the Vampire Facial), stem cells multiply and grow younger tissue, rejuvenating the skin of the face. After having much success with the Vampire Facial, Dr. Runels pioneered the O-Shot (aka Orgasm Shot), inserting PRP into the clitoris and the vaginal wall. Since then, he has introduced other PRP therapies, including the Vampire FaceLift, Vampire BreastLift, Vampire Hair Therapy, the Vampire WingLift and the Priapus Shot (P-Shot) for men. What is the PRP in the Vampire FaceLift? How do plasma injections work?

Platelet Rich Plasma contains growth factors that are packed with proteins and healing factors. Just as it can repair the skin from injury, PRP can effectively be used to restore skin on many areas of the body. Specifically, PRP works as follows:

  • Stem cells respond to micro-injury on the skin by going into repair mode, stimulating growth factors and cells to generate new tissue.
  • New blood vessels form (or “neovascularization”), which increases the blood flow to the skin.
  • Cellular turnover, collagen and elastin production are enhanced to combat aging.

What do Platelet Rich Plasma injections do for the face?

Because of its powerful ability to heal, promote collagen and elastin production and stimulate stem cell growth, the Vampire FaceLift has many cosmetic applications including:

PRP for Wrinkles / Skin Rejuvenation

Both injecting and microneedling with PRP are highly effective at erasing signs of aging, as well as restoring a healthy glow to dull, tired skin. Platelet Rich Plasma injections for wrinkles boost collagen, elastin and cell renewal, which works on fine lines on many areas of the face. These include around the eyes (crow’s feet); around the nose (bunny lines); lines at the corners of the mouth (frown and smile lines); as well as lines on the horizontal and vertical lines on the forehead (“the elevens”).

PRP for Photodamaged Skin / Hyperpigmentation / Age Spots

By encouraging skin renewal, microneedling with PRP will work to even out skin tone. This results in the reduction of any discoloration of the skin that’s caused by photoaging, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) or other skin conditions that can cause dark spots.

PRP for Acne Scars / Burns / Skin Texture Renewal

PRP injections will repair underlying collagen and elastin to improve skin’s texture. Specifically, it can heal all types of acne scars, including ice pick scars, boxcar scars, atrophic scars and rolling scars. A series of treatments is recommended for best results.

Are there other cosmetic uses for PRP?

It’s important to note that PRP has applications for other areas of the body as well, including: PRP for hair loss, stretch marks, as well as for healing wounds and burns. The Vampire Facial and the Vampire FaceLift are also both highly effective for the décolleté and the neck.

What happens during the Vampire FaceLift procedure?

In a nutshell, the Vampire FaceLift technique includes extracting and then injecting your own PRP back into the skin. This is done in conjunction with a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal cosmetic filler in order to maximize skin regeneration and repair.

The procedure typically takes 45-60 minutes.

  • First, the doctor applies numbing medication to your face.
  • Then, there will be a blood draw from your arm. The platelet rich plasma is extracted from the blood using an FDA-cleared PRP centrifuge machine to separate the richest growth factors.
  • Next, the HA dermal filler will be injected into strategic points in the face. HA fillers are designed to volumize and sculpt a younger looking face, while staying true to your face’s natural contours and shape.
  • Finally, using a tiny, super-fine needle, the PRP is injected into similar strategic points in the face. Your skin will start to produce new tissue over the next few months, bringing back the elasticity and glow of your younger years.

Do HA filler / PRP injections during a Vampire FaceLift hurt?

Because of the use of a numbing cream, most people consider the Vampire FaceLift to be relatively pain-free. However, individual pain tolerances to pain will determine how painful the procedure is. Our trained medical staff are experienced in ensuring the maximum comfort for all of our patients.

Vampire FaceLift Side Effects:  What’s the recovery time after the procedure?

Some skin tenderness and redness are normal following treatment and usually dissipate within several hours. Because it’s a nonsurgical alternative to plastic surgery, the recovery time is minimal. There’s no Vampire FaceLift downtime and patients can return to normal activity following treatment. However, minor swelling and bruising can occur temporarily at the injection site. This usually dissipates within several hours.

Are there complications of the Vampire FaceLift ? Is PRP safe? Are there injection risks?

Because the Vampire FaceLift takes advantage of your own blood, PRP injection complications are rare. There’s no need to worry about allergic reactions or your body rejecting a foreign substance. Similarly, complications from hyaluronic acid (HA) injection are rare, as HA is a naturally-occuring molecule in the body.

PRP Vampire FaceLift Before And After:  What results can I expect?

You will see immediate results, including added volume to the face, a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, a healthy glow to your skin and smoother and more youthful skin. Collagen growth and skin renewal will continue over the next few months and your skin will continue to transform.

How long do the results of a Vampire FaceLift last?

The benefits of treatment for the face depend on the starting condition of your skin. If you are coming in for general skin renewal, we recommend the Vampire FaceLift every three to six months. For acne scarring, hyperpigmentation or if you are targeting a specific skin problem, three sessions that are scheduled four to six weeks apart are recommended. It’s best to come in for a consultation, so that one of our skincare professionals can make an assessment of your skincare needs and determine the PRP cost for each individual.

How much does the Vampire FaceLift cost?

The Vampire FaceLift costs $1500, which includes one syringe of dermal filler.

We also offer the Trifecta Package For Women, which includes the O-Shot, Vampire Facial or FaceLIft and Vampire BreastLift, all performed during the same session at a reduced package price.
