Vampire Hair Therapy FAQs

What is Vampire Therapy for hair loss? Does Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy work for hair loss?

Scientists consider Vampire Hair Therapy one of the most effective treatments for both male and female pattern baldness, apart from surgery. It’s due to the powerful regenerative properties of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Rich in proteins and growth factors, PRP stimulates the hair follicles to promote stem cell growth, collagen production and increased blood flow to the scalp. A series of Vampire Hair Therapy treatments will spark hair to regrow. This regrowth will continue and the hair will be thicker, stronger and more manageable.

What are PRP injections used for?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments have been used to treat everything from arthritis to nerve injuries to tendonitis. Introduced into the world in 1970, PRP became regularly used in medical treatments in the late 1980s. PRP in sports medicine as well as the world of orthopedics is common. Many professional athletes have been fans of this injury-healing treatment including Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods and Maria Sharapova.

When was PRP therapy first used for skin and hair restoration?

In 2011, Dr. Charles Runels, MD, registered and trademarked the Vampire Facial procedure, introducing PRP to the world of cosmetics. When platelet-rich plasma is microneedled into the face (i.e., the Vampire Facial), stem cells multiply and grow younger tissue, rejuvenating the skin of the face. After having much success with the Vampire Facial, Dr. Runels pioneered the O-Shot (aka Orgasm Shot), inserting PRP into the clitoris and the vaginal wall. Since then, he has introduced other PRP therapies, including the Vampire FaceLift, Vampire BreastLift, Vampire Hair Therapy, the Vampire WingLift and the Priapus Shot (P-Shot) for men. What is the PRP In Vampire Hair Therapy? How do plasma injections work?

Platelet Rich Plasma contains growth factors that are packed with proteins and healing factors. Just as it can repair the skin from injury, PRP can effectively be used to restore skin on many areas of the body. Specifically, PRP for Vampire Hair Therapy works as follows:

  • Stem cells respond to micro-injury on the skin by going into repair mode, stimulating growth factors and cells to generate new tissue
  • New blood vessels form (or “neovascularization”), which increases the blood flow to the scalp
  • Increased cellular turnover, collagen and elastin production enhance hair growth

What happens during the Vampire Hair Therapy procedure?

The procedure is actually quite simple. It takes about 30 minutes, the bulk of time being preparation before the procedure.  First, the doctor applies numbing medication to the scalp.  Then there will be a blood draw from your arm. The platelet rich plasma is extracted from the blood using an FDA-cleared PRP centrifuge machine to separate the richest growth factors. Using a tiny, super-fine needle, these healing factors are injected into the scalp. If necessary, this will be followed by microneedling to further stimulate the PRP into the hair follicles.

Do Vampire Hair Therapy injections hurt?

Because of the use of a numbing cream, most people consider Vampire Hair Therapy to be relatively pain-free. However, individual pain tolerances effect how painful injection is. Our trained medical staff will ensure your maximum comfort, during treatment.

Vampire Hair Therapy Side Effects: What’s the recovery time after the procedure?

Some scalp tenderness and redness are normal following treatment and usually dissipate within several hours.  Because it’s a nonsurgical alternative to plastic surgery, Vampire Hair Therapy recovery time is minimal. It’s recommended that you bring a hat or cap to wear following the procedure. Most people can return to normal activity immediately following the procedure, including washing hair. But with any injection, people can experience mild swelling. The swelling often occurs one to two days after the procedure and typically resolves itself within 48 hours. If you experience any swelling, it’s advised that you avoid any vigorous activity.  The numbing cream can be greasy but can be removed with normal soap or shampoo.  If you dye your hair, it’s recommended to use vegetable-based dye, following Vampire Hair Therapy.

Are there complications of Vampire Hair Therapy? Is PRP safe? Are there injection risks?

Because PRP takes advantage of your own blood, PRP injection complications are unlikely. There’s no need to worry about allergic reactions or your body rejecting a foreign substance.

PRP Injections For Hair Loss Results: Does it work for hair?

After Vampire Hair Therapy for hair regrowth, the stem cells and tissue begin to grow and regenerate. This process increases blood flow to the scalp and stimulates the hair follicles. As a result, patients will start to notice a decrease in hair shedding after two to three months; this will depend on the patient’s individual hair cycle lengths and other factors. Additionally, it will take anywhere from two to three months for this Platelet Rich Plasma Hair Therapy to promote new hair growth. Specifically, after a series of hair regrowth treatments, hair count and hair thickness will increase. Furthermore, the growth phase of the hair cycle will speed up. Hair will continue to grow and will look its fullest and most robust after a year. Specifically, it will feel healthier, thicker, softer and more manageable.

Vampire Hair Therapy For Hair Loss: How many treatments are needed?

Men should schedule three appointments four to six weeks apart. Women should schedule two appointments four to six weeks apart. Results are generally long-lasting and can be maintained without additional injections anywhere from two years to permanently. We recommend repeated procedures at least annually to maintain optimal results.

Am I a candidate for Vampire Hair Therapy?

Vampire Hair Therapy is effective for hair loss for everyone. It’s safe and highly effective for treating male and female pattern hair loss, can stop or slow thinning hair and hair shedding, as well as reduce signs of baldness. Specifically, PRP injection therapy for hair has the highest efficacy for people with alopecia areata or androgenic alopecia, which is hair thinning along the top of the head that is genetically predetermined. However, it also offers a solution for hair loss caused by other factors including aging, disease, stress, metabolic changes (such as iron deficiency) or hormonal imbalance. It may be used for hair loss on the scalp, eyebrows or beard.

How much does Vampire Hair Therapy cost?

Vampire Hair Therapy costs $2200 per treatment.

We also offer the Trifecta Package For Men, which includes the P-Shot, Vampire Facial or FaceLIft and Vampire Hair Therapy, and combination PRP Therapy treatments for women, all performed during the same session at a reduced package price.
